There are many natural factors which affect learners of English in pronuncing English accurately. Such factors are the distinction between English and their native languages, their inner abilities and the exposure to English. However, motivation and concern for correct pronunciation play a crucial part.

It goes without saying that different sound systems cause a great deal of difficulty for learners to have a native-like accent. This is why many people assume that they can't pronounce like a native if they haven't been living in an English-speaking country since they are children. Although much research has been done on this topic, they can't agree on it.

There's no doubt that some people are better at imitating than others since our abilities vary in different aspects. As a result, it's quite important for teachers to provide all kinds of training to reach the learners' individual goals.

Another important factor is exposure to English. It is not simply means that they should stay in an English-speaking country in order to reach a high standard of English. The crucial point of this factor is whether they grasp every opportunity to practise their English pronunciation and take full advantage of the English environment. In addition,it's very important that they have the desire to associate with native speakers and get to know the new culture and customs. Some people stick to their own group even though they are in another country. Because they are not willing to change their accents or they are intending to return home afterwards.

In conclusion, motivation and concern for goood pronunciation is the most important factors that teacher should consider, although the teacher could increase the amount of exposure to English to a certain extent.
