Accommodation

Each of the Lafrowda flats accommodates 12 people (7 for James Owen Court) with a shared kitchen.  Most kitchen utensils are supplied, but it is important to note that these kitchens, precisely because they are shared, need to be kept tidy.  Therefore, please try where possible to clean up after yourself.  It is your responsibility to buy washing up liquid for the kitchen.  The cleaners are responsible for the kitchens, toilets and showers (these will be cleaned once a week). Please try and make their lives easier.

Your room will be cleaned every two weeks, bed linen changed every Friday (please leave sheets outside your room in the morning) and waster paper basket emptied if left outside the room the night before.

PLEASE NOTE – NO SMOKING

anywhere in the flats, except your own room!!!!

A  replacement fee of £8 will be charged if you lose your keys, or cards (for blocks Q & R residence).  Please also remember to be considerate towards other students and staff living in the block.  There should be no loud music or parties after 11.30pm on weekdays.

CORNWALL HOUSE

Cornwall House is the central administration and recreation building for Lafrowda flats.  Lunch and dinner are served in Le Brazz daily.  The Lemon Grove is open in the evenings.

Laundry:  there are washing machines in Cornwall House (cost: £1.70) and James Owen Court (cost: £1.50). Drying in both places costs 50p. The last wash is 10pm.

NORTHCOTE HOUSE

This is the administration building of the University, in which the accommodation office is situated.  They deal with enquiries concerning accommodation for the academic year.  Also in Northcote House (Room 164) is the International Office, where Linda Shand can help you with visas and other matters concerning your stay in the UK.

HEALTH

You should have been given a map of the campus with the exact location of the University Student Health centre on it.  During the main campus tour, the course assistants will show you where the Student Health Centre is located.  The opening times of the Health Centre, as well as a list of chemists in Exeter, can be found on the kitchen notice boards, on your flat notice boards, and on the ‘general information’ notice boards (in Streatham Court, outside room 5).  If you wish to see a doctor during the opening hours of the Student Health Centre, please contact one of the Course Assistants if necessary.   In case of an emergency, you (or your flatmates) must contact immediately a Course Assistant who will make sure that you get proper medical attention as quickly as possible (this applies whether or not the Student Health Centre is open, during the nights and weekends).
