skills practice. The focus will be on current news and on practising language
relevant to the project work to be done in the afternoons. Topic and Skills Work (11-12.30: Monday to Thursday) Weekly
topics will provide a framework to increase knowledge of the British economy and

analysed across cultures; guest speakers will illustrate aspects of the weekly
topic. These classes will prepare you for weekly mini-surveys and visits to
local companies. Presentations (Friday morning) The
results of field and/or desk research of the mini-surveys will be presented.
There will be feedback and remedial work on presentation skills and language. ·
Afternoons Project Work
(2-4: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) Project work will be carried out in teams in a field
of your choice. This is your opportunity to work with other students, to get in
touch with English people and to talk about business issues you find
interesting. So identify shared interests, get together in multicultural teams,
plan and arrange your contacts in the local business community, go out and talk
to people, then come back and report on your findings in a final project
presentation at the end of the course. Project tutorials will guide and support
you in your field research. Mini-surveys
(Thursday afternoon) Mini-surveys in small groups will provide
opportunities to practise presentation skills and to do field research in areas
of interest related to weekly topics. Visits (1
afternoon per week) Insight into businesses in action will be gained
through several visits to local companies. |
