THE
STUDY CENTRE The
Study Centre provides facilities for international students in the university to
work independently on improving their English.
It has three areas: The Listening Room
has cassette recorders and materials for: pronunciation
and intonation listening
comprehension examination
practice The Reading Room
has reference books, text books and workcards for: grammar vocabulary reading
comprehension writing English
for academic purposes study
skills examination
practice British
cultural studies It also has three video players with a selection of
tapes, many of which have related exercises. The TV news is recorded every morning and can be
viewed here. There is a small borrowing section consisting of
fiction and non-fiction books. Many
of these are specially adapted for language learners. The Computer Room
has a number of computers with different language learning programs for: grammar reading pronunciation writing vocabulary examination
practice There are also dictionaries and encyclopaedias on
computer. Most of
the materials are colour coded for level: Elementary
– blue
Advanced
– green The Study Centre is
open Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 5.45 pm
