Using a PrintStation
The
PrintStation facility works in conjunction with your IT Services swipecard and
cannot be accessed in any other way. In order to obtain a swipe card you need to
take the application form to IT Services and pay £5.00 (£4 is refundable when
you return the card). Publicly-accessible
PCs in Exeter that are managed by IT Services are normally set up to default to
the nearest public chargeable laser printer. Before this printer can be used the
user must have authenticated on the PC with a suitable username and password.
There are instructions for using the printing service near the printer. These
can also be found at: http://www.ex.ac.uk/ecu/printing/ Output
for the printer is held in a queue and will not be physically printed until the
card for the user is swiped at the appropriate PrintStation. A list of files
waiting to print for that user will be presented; individual items can be
released for printing or removed from the queue. Jobs
can be released from any PrintStation which has a compatible printer,
irrespective of the location of the PC that created the print request. The cost
of printed items will be debited from the user’s account (also known as the
purse); printing will only be allowed if the account contains sufficient funds
to pay for the job. You
can add money to the purse by making a cash payment at
the IT Services Reception point in Laver building (5th floor),
or at the IT office on the second floor of Amory building. All
student printing swipecards have been pre-loaded with £1 worth of printing. You
should use only your card. Do not use
anyone else’s card to print. If
you have a problem with your swipecard or with the Printstation you should
contact IT Services in Laver Building. |
