The last week in Exeter was very bright and interesting for me.I worked a lot in class, conducted a mini-survey{***} prepared a presentation, went to Sidmouth. One of the things that I learnt here is perception about the career possibilities for students in Great Britain. I was rather amazed by the fact that many graduates work in different spheres which are not directly connected with their degrees. For example, one of the students in his presentation about jobs and carees mentioned about one woman who got degree in geography and now she is working as an assistant of the bar manager. On Thursday our group interviewed top managers and shop assistants about their jobs. For me it was rather new that in Great Britain people usually change their jobs many times in their life and can work in different spheres. I was always surprised by the politeness of people and their readiness to answer our questions. In general, I find my staying here very useful and significant for me. I have known better english culture, Ispoke to many people of different ages and social positions. What surprised me greatly is that they all have been polite, tolerant, attentive and diplomatic. Probably that's explained by historical experience. It is a well-known fact that Englishmen have always been the best diplomats and have tried to solve the conflicts by the ways of persuasion and peace talks.I think the peculiarities of English culture( tolerance, flexibility, diplomacy) are especially important in international business where capability to listen attentively and speak effectively are very necessary while dealing with people of different cultures.I highly appreciate this course because it gave me a general overview of English business culture( especially communication skills, standards of presentations) and other cultures(especially team work was useful and helpful for me). I do believe that experience I've got here will help me in my future career.
