Real Producer Help

These pages will take you through the steps of recording and emailing an audio file with Real Networks Real Producer G2. You can call up pages with screenshots for more detailed support.

 

1. Start RealProducer G2;

Select Record from Media Device and click OK

2. Make sure, you select Capture Audio and click Next /Weiter.

3. Put in a title and your name to identify yourself as the author.Then click Next/Weiter.

4. For reasonable sound recordings, select Single Rate and click Next/Weiter.

5. Specify 28K Modem as your target audience, then click Next/Weiter.

6.  As an audio-format choose Music and click Next/Weiter. Avoid Stereo Music, as microphones tend to be mono and stereo playback adds some echo which reduces over-all understanding.

7. The system will prompt a file name. Please note that the sound files have an .rm extension. Feel free to select a suitable location on your hard disk by clicking on Save As. Selecting a floppy disk may not be a good idea! Take note of where you save your file as you will need to find it on your computer later!

8. Next you get a summary showing you all the settings you have made. Click on Finish/Fertig stellen.

9. Now you have reached the main screen with the recording controls. Before you click on Start, though, check that

1. your microphone is connected to the right socket on your sound card;

2. your sound-card is configured correctly; to do this ...

10. ... double-click on the speaker icon in your task-bar, usually in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

11. This will bring up the sound settings. Check that the microphone is muted/Ton aus, otherwise you will get feedback when recording.

12. Continue by clicking on Properties/Eigenschaften.

13. Select Recording/Aufnahme and OK.

14. On the next screen make sure the microphone is selected/auswählen.Drag the slider up to increase or down to decrease recording volume. If your recording is distorted or not loud enough, try again after adjusting these settings.

15. On RealProducer's main screen, click Start to begin recording. You will then see the noise level on the audio-meter:

green and yellow = OK
red = too loud: reduce the volume as shown earlier!

To finish the recording click Stop and ...

16. confirm by clicking Yes. Then the recording will stop.

17. You will then see a screen with recording data. plus an option to view statistics.

18. These are the optinal statistics of a short sound recording. Click Close to return to the main screen.

19. Finally, click on E-Mail Clip and select the rm-file you created earlier. Opening it will then start your E-Mail programme. Put in your tutor's email address, in this case to bergern@kfunigraz.ac.at and send the message with the attached file.
